hi all,

I've been trying to get a definitive answer on the internet but all the content seems to be very old!

I have seen seen listed beaches such as Camber sands, Normans Bay and Birling Gap, as I said all of these are listed but none of them have been confirmed as still in use.

Can anyone out there help as I am looking forward to a beach visit soon as the weather is warming up.  I am aware of Fairlight and Brighton but would prefer to stay closer to home.

Please let me know if you have any information on these beaches or any others and if any of you visits them I'd love to join you there.

thank you for your help.

G

Quoting Owdnick:

There is a little beach between Eastbourne and Hastins, but the name just evades at the moment. It is a good beach, however there's a lot of activity, if you get my drift and attetion not everybody wants. But apart from that its great just get down by the side of the groins,  no pun intended. Cheers!!

I think you mean Normans Bay, near Cooden.

Birling Gap and Normans Bay both get quite a few nudists on good days, niether have much shelter if the wind is in the wrong direction. Camber, near the river end among the dunes. and the area across the river backing onto the bird sanctuary get a few nudists, mostly out of sight unless you stumble on them. Neiither location is as popular as in the past it seems, they're best used when its not busy, out of high season when you get many more people walking along from the main Camber beach nearer the holiday camp.

Hi G,

sorry summer is almost over, but here is an update for next year.

Brighton actually has 3 nudist beaches as follows.

1. Brighton main beach(official nudist beach open to anyone, but loads of tourists walking past and over looked from main road into Brighton) warning if you park in ASDA in the marina car park they are now filming cars coming and going so don't stay over the 3hr free parking, the multi. Storey opposite Asda gives 4hrs free parking but like Asda will now send you a fine if over 4hrs.(reason I know is I stayed in Asda car park for 3.5hrs and got a £40 fine.

2.Shoreham nudist beach(unofficial but with free parking, and only a few dog walkers on the beach and the odd clothed guy walking along with his hand in pocket lol). It's a much bigger beach than Brighton so loads of room to spread out and a high concrete wall behind so sheltered,  Mixed range of ages, mainly male but there is the odd couple this is the beach I use all the time.

3. Telescombe cliffs(between Saltdean and Peacehaven- unofficial beach and mainly men) a small beach, but as with shoreham free parking in the smugglers rest pub car park) I have used this beach once it's not over looked, and there are loads of small coves that you can sit in if it gets to windy or you want to be more private.

If you would like to know anything else, don't hesitate to ask.

cheers

D

Birling Gap is okay, but you need to watch the tides and falling rocks, its all chalk cliffs.
