Quoting deafqueernude:
Here in the USA, we have this observance for youth involving wearing a costume on the night of October 31, every year and parading from door to door in neighborhoods soliciting candy from the owners. The weather is chilly/cold, it's dark and for the young, it can be a frightening experience. I distinctly remember the two Halloween experiences that I had, the costumes and masks were manufactured and therefore, ill-fitting and uncomfortable. As someone who despises cold weather, it was horrible. And as a budding naturist, it was totally absurd. Fortunately, I was spared additional suffering as Twin and I were shipped off to a residential school for the Deaf at the age of seven years. ¿ ¿ ¿ My next experience with this torture was in university when the students revelled in once again, donning costumes and drinking alcohol and partying. Some of the anxiety of my youth was absent as by now, I could determine my own costume. The creative freedom allowed me to make myself as close to naked as possible: one year, a Roman toga, the next, Tarzan (loincloth only), etc. I was able to be social and comfortable at the same time. ¿ ¿ ¿ By the time I was a graduate student, I was, at last, able to celebrate this custom in a way that was natural for me. By then, I had discovered nudist social groups and enjoy their Halloween traditions of nude parties and using theatrical make-up to create artistic costumes for adults. This Halloween monster became less of a nightmare and I began to enjoy. ¿ ¿ ¿ For me, now, Halloween isn't the nightmare that it once was. And I've made some attractive designs using body paint and make-up. I still believe it is inappropriate and unsafe to expose our youth to such nonsense. However, as an adult, I can be myself and who I am participate in the festivities. Get naked. Enjoy!
